About the Item
We kindly suggest you read the whole description, because with it we try to give you detailed technical and historical information to guarantee the authenticity of our objects.
Iconic and distinctive small square box in fine multicolored German porcelain and pure gold finish; it is an exclusive and distinctive product made in Art Nouveau style between 1895 and 1900 by the famous Galluba & Hofmann company in Limenau, Thuringia (Germany). The Galluba & Hofmann porcelain factory was founded in Limenau on June 6, 1888. Shortly after its foundation, the factory experienced a rapid rise, so much so that two years after its foundation it already employed 80 people, in 1891 it went from 100 to over 500 in 1897. From an artistic point of view, the products of the factory were of the highest level and were often awarded at fairs and exhibitions. In 1897 the company received a gold award at the "Industrial and Commercial Exhibition of Saxony-Thuringia in Leipzig," which prompted the Grand Ducal Family of Saxony-Weimar-Eisenach to visit the factory several times and stock up on various porcelain jewelry. In 1900, the porcelain manufactory participated in the World's Fair in Paris where it received the "Mention honorable" award. This award further increased sales of Galluba & Hofmann products in France. The factory's heyday ended with World War I, following which sales markets in France and the United States collapsed. There was no longer any interest in German porcelain. A slow decline began in the 1920s. The Great Depression finally dealt the company its fatal blow when it went bankrupt and had to cease production in 1929. The products of the brand "Galluba & Hofmann" are rare today and were mainly kept from the period between 1895 and 1914. Since the mark on our box is not very visible, we have added two photos of the same mark taken from books specializing in porcelain. Measures width cm.8, depth cm.8, height cm.5. For all our shipments we use special packaging materials (wooden crates, styrofoam, etc.) for maximum protection and safety of the objects.

Art Deco Wilkinson Arthur J. Royal Staffordshire Pottery Pair of Tureens
By Arthur J Wilkinson
Located in Prato, Tuscany
We kindly suggest you read the whole description, because with it we try to give you detailed technical and historical information to guarantee the authenticity of our objects.
Pretty and refined pair of small serving tureens; they have a well-proportioned, square design typical of Art Deco, graceful and pleasing floral decorations on the lid and body help to lighten the rigidity of the form; the rim and knob are ornamented in pure gold. On the bottom, we find the maker's mark: the famous Arthur J. Wilkinson Firm located on Newport Lane in Burslem, near Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire County, an ancient locality famous for the production of pottery and porcelain. From the mark, we can accurately identify the year of production of the two soup tureens: 1947. In 1881 the old Central factories in Burslem passed into the hands of Wilkinson & Hulme; in 1885 Hulme retired from the business and Arthur J. Wilkinson continued alone, AJ Wilkinson...
