About the Item

Beautiful decorative lidded-hinge box from famed Italian ceramic house Studio Del Campo of Turin, Italy. Lid is comprised of an enamel coated copper square with a brass trim and lined in poker-table green velvet. Lid also features an abstract design in gold and various shades or purples; lilac, lavender, plum. The enameled ceramic surface also features Del Campo's classic "burnt" or "crackled" finish where you see the ceramic showing an almost mosaic texture in stripes and striations. The storage box is brass and its interior is 3/4 inch deep, fully lined in the same poker-table green velvet. The hinges are in excellent working condition and feature a small extension from above that acts as a stop for the lid. When the lid is open the box feels sturdy and stable. While the lid itself feels slightly fragile when open given its age, we do not foresee any issue with use. The underside features many markings. First, at center, the "Del Campo" inscription with 82 signifying its year of production, 1982. Also including a small DC stamp used in later productions. Additionally in the bottom left corner is "74 a 100" -- its number edition. Making this a numbered work with 100 being created. Overall, the piece is quite heavy for its petite size. While beautiful and fragile in appearance, it will definitely last many more years of use to come.
