Rare 1800s Tramp Art Lion Door knocker Hand Carved Storage Box / Jewelry Box / Crimson Velvet with Brass Hardware
With intricate and elaborate decoration, this antique tramp art box is a distinguished way to display jewelry, or any other item your heart desires.
Featuring elaborate chip-carved decoration. Each side of this box is adorned with hand-carved tiered frames of four-layered notches, characteristic of the traditional chip-carving technique of Tramp Art, a 19th century form Folk Art that transforms salvaged materials into furniture and art. The lid, attached to the base with hinges, is covered with a crimson velvet pad bordered by a chip-carved trim and lions head handles on each side. With the great details of its carvings, enhanced by a warm patina, this American Tramp Art box from the 19th century would make a wonderful jewelry box, perhaps placed on a nightstand or on a chest of drawers, or a box for office items sitting on a desk.
