About the Item

An Absolutely Stunning & Rare early Victorian well figured brass mounted Coromandel Ladies or Gentleman’s Vanity Jewellery Casket of generous proportions. Third quarter of the Nineteenth Century. The hinged lid opens to reveal a fully fitted interior, complete with lift out tray. The lower area with a secret pull out fitted drawer. Condition: Superb for such an early piece, all glass jars and covers are original, the entire inside has been relined with a dark red velvet fabric, the lower drawer is in original untouched condition. Small split across top lid, see image. The lift out tray is a little tight fitting. This item is quite heavy and is of very good quality complete with original working lock and key. Last quarter of the 19th century. The hinged cover opens to reveal an original fitted interior of twin smooth lift out finial covers. Condition: superb condition with no losses to inlays, interior foil linings are quite worn. Baise underneath has wonderful age-wear, very nice untouched surface patination.
