A Mother of Pearl Jewelry Box, Judaica
About the Item
This resplendent rectangular Judaica jewelry box is a true celebration of traditional craftsmanship and refined artistry, entirely veneered in lustrous mother-of-pearl tiles arranged in a tile-like mosaic pattern that glows with iridescent hues under the light.
The lid of the box is particularly impressive, rising in a gently slanted beveled frame adorned with triangular and linear geometric accents in natural and tinted pearl. The outermost border of the lid is framed with rectangular mother-of-pearl tiles, surrounding an inner border of elaborately cut foliate and shell-like designs, all intricately carved from shimmering pearl. Within this, a ring of multicolored rectangular tiles adds visual contrast and vibrancy.
The centerpiece of the lid is a three-part composition culminating in a magnificent Star of David, crafted in thick, beveled mother-of-pearl, set proudly atop a recessed background. This central star is framed by delicately pierced foliate carvings in a square formation, giving it the appearance of being both framed and elevated—a focal point of glowing symbolism and elegance.
Each of the four sides of the box mirrors the artistic dedication of the lid, showcasing a border of multicolored mother-of-pearl tiles surrounding centrally set foliate and shell-motif panels carved in relief—offering unity in design and texture throughout the exterior.
The interior of the box is lined with rich green felt on both the underside of the lid and the base of the compartment, while the walls are finely finished in smooth wood, offering both contrast and a warm balance to the brilliant outer shell.
A stunning and rare example of mother-of-pearl Judaica craftsmanship, this jewelry box merges decorative elegance with meaningful symbolism—an heirloom-quality piece suitable for safeguarding precious items while gracing any collection or display with its radiance.
