About the Item

A beautiful antique and all handcrafted jewelry box with a striking velvet lining. This rare and larger size jewelry box or casket makes a beautiful accessory for a lady with an eye for fine arts. It is a very well made gem and highly practical with seven drawers and a good working lock and key in the right door and two sliding brass 'locks' in the inside of the left door. This box opens and closes perfectly and its striking presence will grace your vanity or dresser in a way that no modern piece ever could. The drawers come with a stunning blue lining and the three 'tiers' each have their own kind of interior. The top tier may have been made for pocket watches or circular brooches. The one below could have been made for necklaces and/or bracelets and the two bottom tiers, consisting of four drawers would have been used for all other types of jewelry. Have you also noticed the striking bronze handles? They too add to the grandeur of this striking antique gems box. Thanks to the handles on the sides this chest-like work of beauty is also easy to move or carry around. This antique box too looks so much better in real life than it could ever do in a photo. The combination of the ancient patina of this solid wooden box, the beautiful bronze and the marvelous, blue-color velvet interior is unlike anything you ever saw. It will make your jewelry look even more pretty. Mind you, our price for this rare antique even includes perfect packing and also worldwide delivery from our store to your door in just 4 to 6 days. Maximum height x width x depth when closed: 16 x 11.6 x 8.8 inches. Key is marked with R. Cooper & Son. We have a passion for the unique, for quality, for stylish yet practical and for craftsmanship of years gone by. Your purchases will be extremely well packaged and we look forward to serving you (again). You can shop all our 1000+ listings by pushing the button that reads 'View All From Seller'.

Unique Liberty & Co Marked Great Arts & Crafts Cabinet Attr. to Leonard Wyburd
By Leonard Wyburd
Located in Lisse, NL
Stunning Arts and Crafts cupboard by one of the greatest. We are certain that this wonderful handcrafted, stained oak cabinet was designed by Leonard Francis Wyburd (1865-1958). We are certain, because of several style elements that are typical for his designs for Liberty & Co in the late 19th century. We have no pictures in books or other evidence, but the pieces from his hand that can be found on the internet reveal style elements that are very similar and they were used by no one else. The design of this incredibly artistic piece shows both the influences of Medieval and Rural Britain. It were these early and amazing pieces of furniture from the Liberty Studio (headed by Wyburd) that made people across the continent speak of the 'Stile Liberty'. Designers like Wyburd and pieces of furniture like this amazing cabinet, influenced and shaped the entire development of the Jugendstil and Art Nouveau in Europe. That too makes this rare piece important for collectors and possibly for museums around the world. This cupboard is a work of art and it is an absolute joy to look at. It is all made of solid and stained oak and apart from the stunning and impressive overal design with the overhanging top with supporting beams, there are some key style elements that make this cabinet really stand out. First of all, there is the ever so true saying which is embossed in copper in beautiful Arts and Crafts letters which reads 'WELCOME IS THE BEST CHEER'. Secondly, there are the rare leather panels in the doors which come with (faded) images in slight reliëf. The one on the left is of a man in a hat and tights and he is playing a mandolin. The leather artwork...

Antique Victorian Mahogany Stationary Box w. Perpetual Calendar, Bramah Improved
Located in Lisse, NL
Stylish and mint condition, antique desk or table piece. This rare and beautifully crafted Victorian luxury letter box is a true testament to 19th-century craftsmanship and ingenuity. Made from rich, solid wood with a deep, warm patina, it blends functional design with timeless elegance. More than just a storage piece, this is a refined system for organizing correspondence, complete with a built-in perpetual calendar and integrated writing panel. Behind the sleek double doors—one of which locks with its key—you’ll find a cleverly designed interior fitted with multiple compartments for letters, documents, and notes. At the top is a charming perpetual calendar with original sliders displaying the day, date, and month—an eye-catching and practical feature. What truly sets this piece apart are the two fold-out panels inside each door. One features a removable writing surface, ideal for jotting down notes with a pencil or crayon. The opposite panel includes straps for securing cards or memos. In addition, there are hidden drawers and compartments for pens, stamps, or other stationery, making this a uniquely functional piece for both historical display and modern-day use. The box features two front doors—one with its original Bramah lock, marked “Bramah Improved”, a renowned name in high-security locks since the 18th century.—perhaps a postmaster, a ship's purser, or a gentleman's estate office. So, if you would rather sit down and write someone a real letter or postcard then, in our view, you will be the right custodian for this stylish and beautifully made antique.
