A Pair of French Empire Polychrome Gilt-Wood Torchères, 19th Century Description: Each torchère with a circular stone top above a concave triform capital with a rosette to each face, the three reeded supports each with an Egyptian mask head above a reeded shaft with a central panel enclosing an anthemion and terminating in lions paw feet, the supports united by vertical cross stretchers with a central lion mask head, the cross stretchers enclosing a pendant and a projecting acanthus leaf boss, the concave triform base supported on acanthus volute feet, the whole painted in green and black with gilt accents. Provenance: Private Australian Collection. Dimensions: Height: 133cm. Diameter: 45cm.
