About
This 19th century Swedish grandfather clock represents the best of informal European simplicity mixed with originality. Shining with the warm orange hue of its original paint and the added painted accent around the door, this clock features a carved glass-less window in a door that also features a flower. This clock also has lovely wood grain visible through its original paint. This Swedish clock retains it's original metal face, hands and movement. Above the simple head and face is a crown that reminds one of a Phrygian cap, the symbol of Liberty particularly used during the French revolution. The base of this clock is adorned with a simple carved out diamond shape and stands on four feet. The back of this clock has a slot for securing it to the wall, something that is always helpful.
This clock would be wonderful as a decorative object and is not currently in working condition, but can be quartzed to keep perfect time, for an additional cost. A quartz battery would then be added behind the face. The original hands are too heavy to carry the quartz movement, so they would be changed to black hands, similar in style. The clock would then chime (the chime can be turned off even though the sound is quite delightful.)
A pendulum selected to work with the quartz movement would be added behind the glass opening. Should you decide to purchase this clock and have it quartzed, let us know before you make an offer and we will adjust the price accordingly.
