French mid 19th century neo-classical st. garniture set signed Japy Freres

$19,800per set

About

A very handsome three piece French mid 19th century Neo-Classical st. garniture set signed Japy Fréres (who won a gold metal for this clock in 1855). The clock is raised by a rectangular dark red marble base decorated by highly chased ormolu mounts all below the enamel dial. Above is a draped maiden holding a cherub amidst an anchor and arrows on one side and an urn on the other. The clock is accompanied by two roman ormolu gadroon shaped fluted urns raised by a square marble base. All original and superb quality gilt throughout with wonderful proportions.
