George III Patinated Bronze and Ormolu Figural Mantel Clock Signed W. Glover

About the Item

A superb quality and rare George III patinated bronze and ormolu figural mantel clock by W. Glover of chronometer quality. Set on a circular black marble base, the putti stands on a scolling, rocco style ormolu raised base. The putti has a wonderful, greenish hue from the patination The putti holds above his head the casing for the movement. Surrounded by a fine ormolu bezel, the fine silvered dial with roman numerals and blued steel hands. Below 12 o clock is an additional up down indicator dial, showing the running duration left. The dial is finely signed in script, W. Glover. This clock has an incredibly Fine and beautifully made 8 day fusee, chain driven movement with free sprung balance wheel, helical hairspring, and English lever escapement. There is no regulator for time adjustments as this wonderful timepiece is chronometer quality. This is an extremely rare piece of great quality. Baillie has a William Glover in Bristol from 1792-1801.

A very smart and stylish antique French Charles X period mantel clock in ormolu and patinated bronze with original ormolu throughout and surmounted by a fine ormolu urn on a stepped base. The clock signed on the dial "Mallet Hr. de Mg le Duc d'Orleans". The clock is set on decorated ormolu block feet and is constructed of patinated bronze with ormolu mouldings and applied ormolu mounts.
