Antique Braise Cast Iron Flat Press Laundry Trivet, France, 19th Century

About the Item

This cast iron trivet is particular Because it was created to put braises inside. This type of model represented a step forward for the laundress because it allowed to iron longer without having to rest the iron on the stove. To allow the embers to be added to the iron, a reservoir and a grill were added inside. A chimney was used to evacuate the smoke from the embers which gives this iron this particular look. Another progress, this iron was provided with a wooden wrist which allowed to not use a rag to hold it. Shipping: P 11,5 L 21 H 21 cm 5.6 KG.
