About the Item

Rare find, stunning Glass FIG by Hanne Dreutler for Studio Åhus from 1980. Light pink and clear glass made in sommerso technique that originated in Murano, Italy. This piece is in excellent vintage condition - only minor signs of wear from normal us. Signed/numbered by artist on bottom. The bright, luminous colors add dynamics to this heavy, substantial piece. The apple is clearly signed with engraved "Studio Ahus Sweden 1980 HD" on the bottom. In excellent condition. Studio Åhus was founded in 1977 by Hanne Dreutler (1942-2009) and Arthur Zirnsack. Hanne Dreutler worked at Målerås and Flygsfors glassworks in 1968-1971 before moving to Kosta Boda in 1971-1975 and meeting Zirnsack there; at Kosta Boda they both worked under Vicke Lindstrand. They married and started their own studio in Ahus in southeast of Sweden; Lindstrand worked at Åhus after retirement from Kosta Boda. Currently Studio Åhus is run by Hanne and Arthur's son Martin Zirnsack and glass artist Lennart Nissmark.
