Acrylic Column Sculpture by Vasa Velizar Mihich, USA, 1971

$18,000

About

An acrylic sculpture created by Yugoslavian-American artist Vasa Velizar Mihich (b.1933) in 1971. This sculpture is composed of five interchangeable acrylic columns which sit freely on a clear rectangular acrylic base. The columns were cast in a range of vibrant neon hues which create a prismatic effect viewed from different angles. Etched signature and date ‘71 on the base of one of the columns. Vasa Velizar Mihich (b.1933), also known as VASA, is a Yugoslavian-American artist who is best known for his striking cast acrylic sculptures which seamlessly reflect and refract light. Vasa taught theories of color at the University of California for years and has been creating his signature sculptures in Los Angeles since the late 1960s. His work has appeared in the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Royal Museums of Fine Art of Belgium and the LACMA among others.
