About the Item

"Ring Grace", unique piece, 2017 glazed earthenware A Ring Thing collection A small chair, a miniature moon, a Philipp Stark's squeezer or the anatomical details of Michelangelo’s David: you can wear them at your finger. Or you can consider them just as sculptures. Wear them on the red carpet or just look at them elegantly displayed on the mantelpiece. Or maybe give it another semantic twist: wear the sculptures and stare at your jewels like a work of art you will never wear. Enjoy these witty hybrids at the border of art and design with a good dose of genuine self-mockery. Andrea Salvatori (Italy, 1975) is a visual artist working in ceramics to realize ironic and witty sculptures, sometimes involving a diverse selection of found objects, such as Murano glass vases, Meissen porcelain miniatures or Ginori period ceramics sourced in flea markets around Europe. Salvatori’s works often begin with these items and add an element created by the artist, generating an unexpected semantic shift. The result is unique, encompassing pop culture and kitsch aesthetics: a witty and effective way to turn reality upside-down and at the same time a powerful combination of exquisite craftsmanship and genuine irony.

Ceramic Centerpiece by Carlo Zauli from Faenza, Italy 1970
By Carlo Zauli
Located in Milan, Italy
Ceramic (Grés) centerpiece designed and produced by Carlo Zauli in 1970. Unique piece. Signed. Biography: Carlo Zauli (Faenza, 1926-2002) is one of the great names in post-war Italian sculpture. Like other masters of previous generations, from Martini to Fontana and Leoncillo, his technical training was in the field of ceramic art. Zauli moved away from its formal principles in the sixties, however, when his work moved towards a complex form of sculptural research of great expressive richness. The shift from informal territories towards a reasoning about geometrical forms as rhetorical structures brought him into the heart of the sculptural debate of those years. The solo exhibition at the Montenapoleone Gallery of Milan in 1957 fitted in perfectly with other works that were part of a trend towards an integration of the arts (frieze for the palace in Baghdad, 1958; frieze for the government printing office...
