Emerson Woelffer Abstract Expressionist Ceramic Sculptures, 1979

1914 - 2003 He was an "American original" stated Ed Ruscha, whom was once a student of Mr. Woelffer. Mr. Woelffer taught in art schools throughout the U.S. He even had a brief stint at Black Mountain College which was known as the new Bauhaus. His art is in collections and museums throughout the U.S and abroad. He is known as an abstract expressionist with a free association approach to his works. These two great abstract forms for example show his method. Hand-sculpted natural clay on wood bases. One is signed "Woelffer 79". The smaller one is roughly 8.5" H x 3.5" x 5.5".
