About the Item

A Remarkable 19th Century Sculptured Rosewood & Buckhorn Hatstand This remarkable and extremely rare hatstand / porte manteau is quite something. Exquisitely crafted from rosewood and buckhorn this rare Austrian / German hatstand is simply more, much more. The craftsman ship on display is of the highest calibre. The veins running the length of the stem haven’t been added, but skilfully carved, when time simply wasn’t an issue. Everything about this has been executed with a deft touch and confidence, to create this wonderful piece of sculpture. Expanding on the rarity of this item, only one example can be found, which was sold by Christies Paris in 2012. It was part of the Hélène Rochas Estate. As to be expected, it broke all of the famous auction house’s expectations. Please contact us for international delivery, as quotes vary, and we aim to get the most competitive quote for you. We've been sourcing and selling early 20th Century and antique French furniture for 20 years. All of our pieces are sympathetically restored. We specialise in original, French, leather club chairs. Even though our stock is quite consistent, finding original club chairs in a very good, original condition is a constant challenge. With our partners in France, we are always on the lookout and our chairs can be found anywhere from a local brocante to a chateau sale, from the north to the south of France. In our experience, nearly all the chairs will need attention to the springs, after all they're not just objects of beauty, they are to be used. In addition, the leather on our chairs is always nourished and the upholstery cleaned. Our customers range from private homes to hotels and clubs, film and fashion shoots. Our passion has not diminished, and we endeavour to keep finding beautiful chairs and exquisite pieces for your pleasure.
