About the Item
Wave - Contemporary White Ceramic Sculpture by Rachel Peters, UK, In Stock.
Wave is a hand-built ceramic sculpture made from grogged white stoneware, with a soft slip finish that’s gently washed back to reveal the texture of the clay. The form moves in a continuous rhythm, a sequence of rounded shapes that rise and fall, like a tide or a breath.
There’s a calm energy to this piece, created through repetition and flow. Its curved lines suggest movement, but the sculpture also feels steady and grounded. Inspired by the natural world and the body, Wave plays with balance, softness, and connection.
Simple in form yet expressive in feeling, this piece invites quiet reflection. It holds space gently, without needing to explain itself.

Rachel Peters Ceramics
Inspired by the clean lines and natural materials of Danish design, Rachel seeks to create works that are both beautiful and calming. She finds harmony in soft forms, biomorphic shapes, and muted colours, allowing the materiality of the clay to shine through. Originally from the UK, Rachel’s journey with clay began as a reawakening after a career in social work and a life-changing move to South Africa. Now based back in the UK, her studio is a sanctuary for exploration and self-expression. ‘Clay is my therapy, my meditation, my connection to the earth. It is a reminder that even in the chaos of life, there is beauty to be found in the simple act of creation.’ Hand-built through coiling, her vessels and sculptures are a testament to slow, meditative craftsmanship. The focus is on form and texture – elegant shapes that need no decoration, adorned with the subtle nuances of grogged stoneware and a muted palette. Each piece is a tactile invitation to mindfulness and appreciation for the earth's raw beauty. Since launching her first collection, Rachel’s work has been widely exhibited in galleries in the UK, Europe and Canada. She has shown her work at prestigious events including Ceramic Art London and has been selected for publication in 100 Emerging Artworks Women’s Edition 2024 hosted by Arts to Hearts Project.
