About

Impressive and unusually large mid-18th century Griffin in solid wood and incredible details with forepaws holding a shield, Sweden, circa 1750. The date 1507 is inscribed on the lower left side, this is most likely wrong, the real date of this Griffin is more likely from the mid-18th century. The finish is secondary and most likely applied, circa 1800 by the looks of the amazing patina, this is also possible when the date 1507 was added.
