About the Item

This superb large pottery sculpture is hand modelled in clay fired in a kiln with a rich reddish glaze and shaded detailing. It depicts a pair of young owls sitting together waiting for a parent to return to feed them. The sculpture is very well modelled with great detailing to the feathers and features. It is initialled S W 1934 on the underside and is presented on its original hand made ebonised base especially fitted to take the sculpture. It is a large and pleasing piece in good condition with no restoration.
