About the Item
Beautiful vintage Murano hand blown Sommerso aqua blue and gold flecks Italian art glass kitty cat figurine. Documented to designer Alfredo Barbini, circa 1950-60s. I have owned several of the cats with original labels, and they are published in Barbini's own catalog. The kitty cat has a very elegant shape, with aqua blue interior, black eyes, and gold leaf bow around its neck. Photos taken in the shade with natural light, and direct sunlight (showing higher contrast). Would make a great display piece on any desk, vanity or curio cabinet. Mid-century era. Measures 6" tall x 5" long.

Alfredo Barbini
Alfredo Barbini (1912–2007), a glass artist born in 1912 on the islands of Murano in the lagoon of Venice, Italy, was one of Murano's leading figures of the 20th century. His parents were members of families, which had been prominent in the glassmaking industry on Murano for generations as glassblowers and beadmakers.
