Barbini Murano White Gold Flecks Pink Italian Art Glass Bird Figure Paperweight
About the Item
Beautiful vintage Murano hand blown white, pink and gold flecks Italian art glass bird on base figurine, paperweight. Documented to designer Alfredo Barbini, circa 1950-60s. The bird has a pink color spot on the top of its head which is unusual. I have owned others like this with the Barbini labels, and similars are published in his glass catalog. The bird is profusely covered in gold leaf throughout its body, wings and tail, as well as the dome base. Would make a great display piece on any desk, vanity or curio cabinet. Mid-century era. Measures: 5 1/4" tall x 5" across the wings x 3 3/4" long.

Alfredo Barbini
Alfredo Barbini (1912–2007), a glass artist born in 1912 on the islands of Murano in the lagoon of Venice, Italy, was one of Murano's leading figures of the 20th century. His parents were members of families, which had been prominent in the glassmaking industry on Murano for generations as glassblowers and beadmakers.
