Fine Bronze model of a horse by PIERRE JULES MÊNE, (France 1810-1879) entitled "Cheval Libre" (The Free Horse) Sand cast during the Mêne-Cain (1874-1908) period, probaly circa 1880. Listed in Mêne's catalogue, no. 39 and also used which slight alterations as one of the two Arab stallions in Mêne's popular work, "L'Accolade" Superb colour and surface throughout and original patina with good depth Similar examples sold: Christie's, New York, 8 December 2005, lot 5 ($ 7,800 USD) Christie's, London, 8 December 2007, lot 104 (£8,750 GBP
