Carved Wood Chamois Family by Ernst Heissl, Ebensee Austria, circa 1900 A handcarved wooden sculpture of a chamois group with buck, chamois and fawn. A very fine and natural carving by the Austrian woodcarver Ernst Heissl, ca. 1900. Measures: Width: 7.87" (20 cm) Height: 9.84" (25 cm) Depth: 4.72" (12cm) The tradition of wood carving, using manual skills to make everyday objects and fine art sculptures, is found throughout Europe.
