About the Item

Magnificent 21st Century English Carved Lapis Lazuli Sculpture, ''On A Golden Pond'', by Frempire. A superb quality, contemporary model of a Horse carved in the round from Lapis Lazuli, signed and titled ”On A Golden Pond’’ & dated MMXXIV, by the one of the finest English sculptors, Frempire. This strikingly beautiful work was carved exclusively in England at the artist’s atelier, it is mounted on a gilded Bronze ‘’pond’’ atop a carved Ashford Black Marble plinth. The wonderfully figured head is carved from a single block of Lapis Lazuli on a scale rarely found, it exhibits an elegantly tranquil peace to the viewer. The breathtakingly gorgeous azure colour of this incredibly hard semi-precious stone is a delight to behold, further adding to the sculpture’s majesty. Without question a masterpiece of significance from this most talented of new sculptors. Frempire is a highly skilled English sculptor, his works are always totally unique, by the nature of the figuration and size of the stones he carves from. His works are incredibly rare and take many months to complete. This stunning example took over 8 months to complete from inception. The stone was specifically selected for colour, figuration and size, remarkably less than 5cm was lost from its height in the raw to the finished piece. The rare Ashford Black Marble plinth was again uniquely selected in Derbyshire by the artist, as a homage to British sculptures past and a fitting plinth on which to display his cherished work. A truly stunningly beautiful and majestic work of sculptural art.
