About the Item
Erhard & Sohne Sculptural Ashtray, Brass(Bronze?) Stylized Fish/Whale Shape.
Stamped with maker's signature stamp on underside, along with "Made in Germany" beneath the stamp, this is a unique, handsome piece of functional metal art from the mid-century modern era.
Good vintage condition; we found no chips, cracks, or repairs. There is some spotting at/near ashtray interior bottom, as shown in the last several photos. Nevertheless, this is a great little work.
When we obtained the piece, it was stated as bronze, but since it looks to us like brass, we choose to equivocate. We don't actually know whether it is bronze or brass as we are not metals experts.
This rare item measures approximately 3 x 1.75 inches.
