About the Item
This Italian giltwood dog sculpture from the mid-20th century features a whippet or greyhound, sitting obediently with a regal expression. As the head is lifted up and the ears are pulled back while the front paws neatly positioned in front of the rear ones, we’re dealing here with a dog who knows his job. The gilded body contrasts nicely with the silver gilding of the collar. The details are very nicely rendered, particularly on the body and paws. The medium size of this Italian giltwood dog, circa 1950 would make it a wonderful decorative object placed on a side table or chest of drawers, or perhaps just inside an entrance door.
