About the Item

Dog lovers will appreciate this realistic vintage hound dog. Crafted in Italy, circa 1950, this charming terracotta statue is life-size, and depicts a sitting basset hound gazing forward. Boasting lovely russet, black and white colors that accentuate his coat and eyes, this canine melts our hearts with its melancholic expression. The detailed features include his tail curled around his side, large front paws, very realistically done eyes, and sweet wrinkles around his ankles, face, and ears. With its nice proportions and realistic treatment, this vintage 20th-century Italian terracotta sculpture will be a great decorative addition to any home, whether placed in a living room, hallway or foyer, or even outside on a porch, garden or patio. The dog figure is in excellent condition, with evidence of an old repair which is not readily visible on the outside but which you can see from the inside of the figurine. It is stamped with "made in Italy" on the bottom. Measures: 13" W x 26" D x 17" H.
