About the Item

A striking vintage toucan sculpture, handcrafted in Mexico during the 1970s, in the distinctive style of Sergio Bustamante. This life-size bird is beautifully detailed in a mix of copper, brass, and silver-tone metals, with vibrant blue glass eyes that bring it to life. It perches on a rare circular brass ring, making it an exceptional decorative piece that doubles as an artistic statement. The sculpture features exquisite craftsmanship, with feather-like panels carefully hand-formed to capture natural texture and movement. Over time, the piece has developed a gorgeous patina with subtle turquoise tones, adding depth and authenticity to its surface. For collectors who prefer a brighter finish, we can polish the piece free of charge upon request. Notably, a similar Sergio Bustamante parrot was featured by Architectural Digest in September 2019, chosen for the extraordinary home of Braden Williams (see last photo). Bustamante’s animal-themed works have earned him global recognition and are celebrated for their unique artistry and whimsical presence. This toucan remains in very good vintage condition, with one small dent on the beak (see photos). It comes with a chain that allows for adjustable hanging length (up to 26”). The brass perch has a diameter of 12”. The bird itself measures 15.5” in height, 9” in length, and 6” in depth. Its presence is bold, lifelike, and instantly eye-catching — perfect for mid-century modern interiors or collectors of Latin American art. Our orders are carefully packed and shipped within 24–48 hours to ensure safe delivery. Check our listings for more unique sculptures and vintage decorative finds.
