About the Item

Hand-carved in France during the early 1900s, this pair of hunt plaques feature raised game carvings on each panel, backed by luxurious reddish-brown burlwood with intense graining. Both plaques are rectilinear with an arched top, surrounded by ebonized wood trim with several thin layers of molding. One of the plaques depicts a felled fox surmounting a cluster of oak leaves and a rifle, while the subjects of the other are a rabbit and peasant, once again over oak leaves, but without a firearm. Our pair of burlwood hunting plaques can be displayed on the wall of a hunting cabin or game room.

Pair of Circa 1750 Walnut Wood Entry Doors from Spain
Located in Dallas, TX
Spanish furniture and architecturals of the 18th century, such as this pair of walnut wood entry doors, were highly influenced by French stylings. Hand-carved circa 1750, the doors feature deep, sinuous moldings, reminiscent of the curvaceous motifs seen during the reign of Louis XV. The amazing doors have a rich brown patina that accentuates the charm of the carvings, which are also enhanced by the visible screws used to join the pieces of walnut wood. Comprised of five carved panels per door, each carving is similar: a rough rectangle with rounded ends and barbed counter curves. The three smaller panels are orientated horizontally, surrounding the two larger and vertically arranged panels. A thickly scrolled bronze pull can be seen on each door, also functioning as door knockers (the door on the right has commensurate wear from the pull striking the wood). Because these Spanish entry doors...
