About the Item

A large pair of English Staffordshire style ceramic figures of orange and white seated spaniel dogs with gold chain leashes. Their two front legs are separated, a more delicate, therefore rare process, making this pair one of the rarest models of dogs. This pair of Staffordshire style dogs are inspired by the Victorian era and show deep definition, the brush work is of wonderful quality. Queen Victoria's first dog, Dash, was very likely the source of inspiration for all the Spaniel figures in the 19th century. Staffordshire figures were typically placed on a mantelpiece, meaning that less attention was placed on their back. However, this particular pair shows incredible quality of details on all sides. They are in great condition.
