Polar bear sculpture in glazed clay, early 20th century.
Very tactile and honest sculpture of a polar bear in rough glazed clay. Very expressive and freely made sculpture with a beautiful polar white glaze and colorful details in red and blue. In spots the underlaying clay can be seen through the glazing, which adds to the character of this sculpture. A work of high quality in an expressionist and free spirit. It resembles sculptural works by Hildo Krop or other art deco artists of early 20th century.
Great 'stance' and good proportions. Rough in execution, but also refined at the same time. A fantastic piece of studio pottery to display on your sideboard, table or desk. Could also be used as a press papier.
