About the Item
Life sized brass and copper sculpture of a walrus created by Sergio Bustamante of Mexico circa 1960’s.
Part of his magical menagerie of polished brass creatures.
Very good condition with good stability and minor wear and a few scattered dings.
It appears that at some point the tail may have been stepped on causing partial separation of the soldering where it is attached to the body.
We have engaged a metalsmith to stabilize and secure this attachment.
Soon we will be posting a Sergio Bustamante life size unicorn.

Sergio Bustamante
Sergio Bustamante studied architecture at the University of Guadalajara, and sold his artwork while in school, beginning in 1960. After graduating, he worked with local ceramicists, eventually opening his studio. In 1972, Bustamante moved to Amsterdam, where he learned more about painting and design. In 1975, he established his Family Workshop Studio in Tiaquepaque, Mexico. His monumental sculptures can be found in several cities, including Puerto Vallarta, Guadalajara, and Tiaquepaque.
