About the Item
A set of five antique Georgian oak lion corbels sourced from Hassop Hall, Derbyshire.
Now an impressive interior feature, this set of decorative handcarved solid oak capitals are a fragment of architectural history, likely dating from the extensive restoration to the manor in 1827.
Preserved through time for more than 190 years, these detailed characterful time worn lions are displayed in a painted oak with a well weathered surface finish.

Antique Limestone Lion Crest or Plaque
Located in Wormelow, Herefordshire
Dating from the 1850s, this carved limestone antique plaque depicts the head of a lion within hand carved chain links, some of which have been lost through the ages. It is more than 170 years old and likely once formed part of a larger piece together with this matching plaque. Perhaps it was once part of a keystone above an entranceway or a family crest wall decoration in the prestigious courtyard of a large estate. Made from fine grained limestone, it has a weathered finish that only time can create and yet the lion plaque...

Instead, they have been repurposed as sculpture, brought to life on bespoke steel stands to allow the intricacy of their design to be enjoyed and observed up close on a table, shelf or column. Dating from the late 19th century, these large corbels...
