The approximate dimensions of the lions is as follows: The mini - 2 inches tall / 1 7/8 inches wide / 2 1/8 inches deep The large - 5 3/4 inches tall / 4 1/2 inches wide / 5 3/4 inches deep The gigantic - 14 5/8 inches tall / 11 3/8 inches wide / 13 1/2 inches deep The mini lion has no markings, the large lion is embossed “weden”, Sweden, on the bottom, the gigantic lion is embossed “L. Larson” and has a Gustavsberg sticker. BIOGRAPHY OF THE DESIGNER Lisa Larson was born in Härlunda in southern Sweden in 1931. Between 1949 and 1954 Larson studied at the College of Crafts and Design in Gothenburg, initially in fashion design. However, once Larson enrolled in the ceramics program she changed her career path to design and ceramics. After completing her studies, in 1954 Larson was given a trial period as a designer at Gustavsberg, a porcelain manufacturer outside of Stockholm, Sweden. She was later hired by the artistic director Stig Lindberg. The Gustavsberg factory at Värmdö outside Stockholm was one of the leading ceramic manufacturers in the Nordic region. When Larson arrived, there were already many prominent artists in place, such as Wilhelm Kåge, Berndt Friberg and Stig Lindberg. Larson left Gustavsberg in 1980 to work freelance for a number of Swedish companies including Duka, Kooperative Förbundet and Åhléns. In 1992, Larson founded Keramikstudion together with her colleagues Franco Nicolosi and Siv Solin. The studio continues to produce new designs in small scale production till this day.
