About the Item

Contemporary abstract wooden sculpture “Free to Turn", made by using circular saws, painted light grey on a white background. Signed Christofer Kochs, 2015 The figure depicts a girl with a flared pleated skirt. So the design and elaboration of the pleats give the standing object a certain lightness, even though it is made of solid wood. The form is stylized and somewhat exaggerated. It is not easy to create a delicate object with a chainsaw. The surface is rough, which makes it particularly appealing. The light gray color, which looks like powder, is only on the raised areas; the recesses reveal the white chalk background. A protective transparent varnish covers the object and gives the surface an interesting but not shiny appearance.
