About the Item

Venetian Blue Glass Romanesque Revival Medallion circa 1890 was produced by the Venice & Murano Glass & Mosiac Co. (1872-1919). The iridescent blue tinted glass is hand painted and decorated with gilt on the front surface. These decorative roundels or medallions would later be inserted to the center of a bowl. The design is found on Roman bowls dating from the 4th century AD. Provenance: The Martin Cohen Arts
