About the Item

This very whimsical bronze features a young street kid, cigar in hand, and monkey on a chain in the other hand. A scene that should inspire a smile. Sculpted by the Danish artist Carl Theodore Wegener (1865-1935), and cast by the noted German foundry, Gladenbeck. Bearing the artisit's and foundry's signature as well as the date. The bronze is highly detailed and displays a rich dark brown patina in excellent condition, and mounted on a 2 tiered rouge marble base. A hard to beat combination. A sculpture to be treasured.

    Wear consistent with age and use. A few minor nicks to the bottom section piece of marble, but no evidence of any to the upper round marble section. None of these nicks take away from the look.
