About the Item

Unique and lovely, this 1930s ceramic sculpture depicts a dancing female figure, her long robe swirling around her as she moves through space, her head looking down and her hands at her side. The artist -- who signed with his/her "JL" monogram -- has bathed the piece in an ivory-hued glaze with a beautiful craquelure finish. The artist may have been a part of the Cleveland School of ceramic artists -- including Viktor Schreckengost and Waylande Gregory -- because the figures has a resemblance to some of the pieces produced by Cowan Pottery in the 1920s and early 1930s.
