About the Item

This set of two Art Deco nickel-plated Jazz Band sculptures, comprised of an upright saxophone player and a seated drummer, is crafted by Austrian artist Franz Hagenauer. The architecturally postured musicians complement each other in their movements, which appear to be as rhythmic as the unheard tune they play. Expressive and yet reserved, the figures seem to embody a dedication to their art and to the creation of art that mimics the dedication and artistry of the master who engineered them. Sold exclusively as a matching set. Artist: Franz Hagenauer Circa: Mid-20th century Dimensions: 68.5" height, 33" width, 15.5" depth (drummer); 72.5" height (saxophonist) Materials: Nickel-plated metal, Blackened iron base Signed: Each stamped "Agenauer wien, made in Austria, Handmade," and with the firm's WHW monogram
