A fine French 19th century Polychromed Japonisme life-size cast-metal figure of a standing Geisha, cast after a model by Charles Massé (French, 1855-1913). The standing Japanese beauty wearing a flowing Kimono with both hands raised, holding a palm leaf as a fan and a scroll, her head tilted slightly to the side, standing on a circular faux-marble base. Signed on back: 'Ch Massé, Sculp', Paris, circa 1880. Literature: E. Bénézit, Dictionnaire des peintres, sculpteurs, dessinateurs et graveurs, Gründ, 1999, vol. VII, p. 243 Measures: Height 62 1/2 inches (158.8 cm) Width 29 5/8 inches (75.3 cm) Depth 23 inches (58.4 cm).
