About the Item

Ceramic sculpture hand-painted, Woman with hat. Antonio RONZAN. ORIGIN Italy PERIOD 1940s AUTHOR Ceramicist Antonio RONZAN was born in Nove di Bassano on July 4, 1914. He worked for the Turin-based ceramic factory 'Lenci' together with his brothers Giuseppe, Giovanni and sister Tina from 1937 until 1939. After leaving the 'Lenci' company in 1939, Antonio and his siblings Giovanni and Tina joined his brother Giuseppe in the 'Ronzan' ceramic factory based in Turin, via Guido Reni 80/17, which he had created over a year earlier. He was called up during the war and on his return joined his brother John, who had meanwhile moved production to Bassano. Later his brother Giovanni left Bassano and returned to Turin where he founded another manufactory, which he left to Antonio in 1968. In 1985 Antonio died and left the business to his children Giuditta and Pietro who continued production, under the name 'Ceramica d'Arte Religiosa di Ronzan P. & G.' until 2001.
