The Fishermans wife is one of he classical trades depicted in many Danish art forms. Often shown in realistic paintings while trading, the fisherman's wives where well known for their large vocabulary of less than flattering words, being loud but always with a sense of humor.
This particular figurine is depicted in working clothes, resting her hand on the hip to take a bit of the weight of the heavy basket off of her back.
