Mid-18th Century Venezia Italy Black Marble Sculpture Bust of Young Woman

About the Item

This magnificent and glamorus sculpted bust of a young woman, was realized in the Mid- 18th Century by an unknown Master from the Veneto countryside (close to Venezia) The sculpture was created with great mastery, using marbles of various colors, such as black Gulf marble, Red of Levanto marble and Carrara alabaster. A necklace strung with alabaster spheres which can be unfastened and removed has been placed around the neck. Red Levanto marble was used for the dress and the lace on the profile of the neckline shows a refined and delicate lace-effect workmanship. This master craftsmanship places this sculpture among the master sculptors in the period of the Venetian Golden Age, when highly crafted pieces were required to decorate the Venetian palaces of important families. The piece is in very good state of maintenance and guaranteed original in every parts. The base is not dated Mid-18th Century and it is from a later period. The surface was only cleaned and not restored and it is original. The black marble bust has its Certificate of Authenticity. The documents will be shown upon request in case of interest.
