About the Item
This is a preliminary draft, likely for a public commission — a preparatory work. The entire piece was hand-modeled, and the artist’s touch is still very much present.
Regarding condition, please note that the woman's arms and head are missing. There are also signs of wear from handling and some impact marks.
Charles Filleul (1853–1907) was a French sculptor of busts and figures, a student of Cavelier and A. Millet, and a member of the Société des Artistes Français. He received an honorable mention in 1887.
