About the Item

The magic of wax carved sculpture Alessandro La Motta's wax sculpture "The Face" is a work that, from the first glance, captivates with its warm light and delicate realism of features. The waxy material, therefore, allows nuances that bronze or marble cannot restore: the face seems to pulsate with a life of its own, as if slowly breathing in the half-light. Alessandro La Motta: an international curriculum-wax sculpture Trained between Italy and the Mediterranean, La Motta was invited to the 54th Venice Biennale and, in addition, has exhibited in Barcelona, Lubelsky Gallery in New York, Universal Expo in Shanghai, as well as in Hebron, Jerusalem and Dakar. Each of his works, therefore, carries with it an intense dialogue between classical myth and contemporary sensibility, just as in this face suspended in time. Technical characteristics and amber effect of wax sculpture The sculpture, in excellent overall condition, measures 38 cm in overall height with base, while the head is 27 × 14 cm. Due to the natural translucency of the wax, although the surface appears compact, a backlighting creates a striking amber effect, which, in fact, gives the skin a golden vibration. Thus, the work changes as the light changes: in the daytime it appears more opaque and, in the evening, it becomes ethereal and almost abstract. A contemporary art investment Buying "The Face" means, therefore, choosing a unique piece, ready to grace professional studios, modern living rooms or specialized galleries. Because the wax is fragile but at the same time durable when protected, the sculpture is mounted on a solid base that, again, ensures stability. In addition, coming directly from the artist's atelier ensures authenticity and increasing market value.
