About the Item

Antique AD Mougin French figural garniture clock and mantel urns. Made of marble and bronze with gilt accents and neoclassical styling featuring a figural bronze peasant woman carrying a shieth of wheat and cook pot flanked by two large mantel urns decorated with nude female figures, cherubs / puttis, flowers, a basket of fruit and tassels. The porcelain clock face is marked Bollot-Lemoine St. Quintin France. A D Mougin was a well-known French clock maker working in the mid to late nineteenth century. He is known to have made clocks in the French clock making region of Montbeliard (which is close to the Swiss border) and is also listed as having premises on the Rue de Turenne in Paris. vases 9" x 6" x 20 1/4" ; bases 6" x 5 1/4" Clock 16 5/8" x 8 5/8" x 22 2/8".

A striking and most decorative French 19th century Neo-Classical st. ormolu and Rouge Griotte marble three piece garniture set signed Japy Frères. The impressive clock, which Japy Frères won a gold metal for this clock in 1855, at the center is raised by a rectangular Rouge Griotte marble base with fine bun feet and a striking wrap around Coeur de Rai and pierced palmettes bands at the mottled border.
