Laveno" Christofer Dresser was a Scottish designer He was among the major interpreters of the Art and Crafts aesthetic movement, a design theorist, and among the first ever to interpret the profession of designer in a modern and independent way. Large modeled terracotta Cachepot for S.C.I (Laveno Italian ceramic company) Technique: Strong earthenware, mold forming, glossy glaze. Size: 41 x 57.5cm Christopher Dresser (Glasgow, July 4, 1834 - Mulhouse, November 24, 1904) was a Scottish designer. He was among the major interpreters of the Arts and Crafts aesthetic movement, theoretician of design, and among the first ever to interpret the profession of designer in a modern and independent way. Dresser is considered a father of design for both his theoretical and practical work. His style ahead of its time has influenced generations of designers and demonstrates all its value with some of his everyday metal objects still in production today. Società Ceramica Italiana S.p.A. it was a ceramic factory founded in Laveno-Mombello in 1856 by three former employees of the Milanese ceramic factory Richard. On the occasion of the inauguration of the first International Exhibition of Decorative Art, held at the Royal Villa of Monza in 1923, the Royal Service service for the House of Savoy was created, a unique example offered to the Hereditary Prince, in white earthenware, with a blue band decoration cobalt called "Laveno blue," bearing the distinctive icon of the crown of the Kingdom of Italy in polychrome and gold. In 1925, the young Guido Andloviz was appointed as artistic director, destined to become a famous designer, so much so that he competed with Richard-Ginori, with artistic director Gio Ponti, for the primacy of ceramic art in Italy. In 1931 the "Verbano" factory opened for the production of table porcelain. In 1965 it merged with Richard-Ginori, giving life to Società Ceramica Italiana Richard-Ginori S.p.A. In 1970 it became a subsidiary of Michele Sindona's Finanziaria Sviluppo. In 1973 Sindona sold Richard Ginori to Raffaele Ursini's Liquigas. In 1975, Pozzi and the Società Ceramica Italiana Richard-Ginori merged to create a single large structure: Pozzi-Ginori. In 1977 Ursini transferred it to the SAI insurance group (Società Assicuratrice Industriale), of which he was the owner, and was replaced shortly after by Salvatore Ligresti.
