About the Item

A rare and sculptural collection of four natural Tridacna gigas clam shells, each exhibiting dramatic scalloped edges, layered calcification, and an organic form unique to this endangered bivalve species. These exquisite shells were sourced from the South Pacific and date to the mid-20th century, prior to current conservation restrictions. Tridacna gigas, the largest living species of bivalve mollusk, inhabits shallow reef environments and can live at depths of up to 20 meters (66 feet). These specimens—harvested long before modern CITES protections—highlight the majestic form, natural symmetry, and subtle iridescence that make the species so visually striking. Ideal as decorative accents, tabletop sculptures, or organic vessels in a coastal, naturalistic, or wabi-sabi setting. Shell Size Range: Largest shell: 5.5 in. H × 16.5 in. W × 10.25 in.
