About the Item

A highly decorative and vividly colored Art Nouveau Majolica jardinière or flowerpot, dating from circa 1900. This exuberant barbotine piece features an ornate relief design dominated by stylized thistles and curling leaves. The vibrant color palette includes shades of lemon yellow, pink, lavender, aqua, and brown, topped with hand-painted black accents in the shape of fantastical botanical flourishes. The jardinière showcases the typical Art Nouveau love of organic forms and natural inspiration, enhanced by its high-gloss majolica glaze and gently undulating rim. The interior is glazed in a warm cream tone, and the underside bears the impressed model number "749". There is a small chip to the upper rim and two small flat losses to the surface, visible in the detailed images, and natural crazing to the glaze consistent with age. This piece is perfect as a standalone statement or as a decorative cachepot for indoor plants. A striking collector’s item for any lover of Jugendstil ceramics or 19th-century majolica ware.
