About the Item

These are large, French and of excellent quality. From acorn finials to square stepped bases, this pair exude quality unmistakably. They have the de luxe look of items from the Belle Epoque. The vignettes show on one side putti bringing in the grape harvest, and on the other side, sprays of colourful wild flowers., naturalistically and exuberantly rendered. The lion mask handles, again of exceptional quality, blend subtly with the git and blue ground. Although these are evidently not from the Sevres factory, judging by the general quality, they are by a Paris atelier.

    Replacements made: There are small raised white dots around the vignettes painted with putto and flowers, we replaced several but nothing else. The original gilt decoration is a little rubbed, enough to show these have good age. Wear consistent with age and use.
